Microsoft Edge’s share of the market surged 1300%, while Firefox’s share fell
According to StatCounter, Microsoft Edge’s market share grew from 0.57% in March 2020 to 8.03% in March 2021. It achieved a market share increase of 1308% in just 12 months.
Microsoft Edge’s biggest one-month increase was in June 2020, and that was probably due in large part to Microsoft’s promotion of the new browser through Windows Update. Chrome’s market share, meanwhile, didn’t plummet as much as expected, falling less than a percentage point to 67.14% from 68.11%. Firefox, on the other hand, continues to see a steady decline in usage. In March 2020, Firefox’s share was 9.25%; By March 2021, its share had fallen to 7.95%. This makes it slightly less popular than Microsoft Edge.

Can WebPack fight back against the ESM development model?
Esm-based build tools such as Snowpack/Vite have emerged to eliminate the need to build a complete bundle for engineering builds of projects. Many of us feel that the time is coming when we no longer need to pack tools. With the capabilities of the browser ESM, some code can be run without a build. For Webpack, this wave of ESM enthusiasm in the community has pushed the speed of WebPack compilation to the forefront. The v5 version of Webpack also makes a lot of efforts for the performance of compilation, in addition to providing physical cache optimization, but also provides Module Federation solution, which brings a lot of imagination to our upper application practice.
Webpack tends to be a one-size-fits-all build tool, but now we have more options tailored to the business.
