Hello everyone, I am thirteen, I am a “collector”.

This article will talk about the behavior of “collecting nothing, buying nothing”, and give some of their own suggestions.

There are many activities on the mining platform, such as the recent “small book free learning” activity, publishing a certain number of articles can not only return the small book purchase amount, but also may get the mining gold surrounding gift package and so on, full of sincerity. While giving benefits, it also encourages everyone to export and share.

Of course, what attracts me more is the sentence in the article: avoid “buying means learning”. I think I might have such a situation, so I write this article.

Everyone is a collector

Who isn’t a collector?

How long have you been a collector?

Not to criticize this phenomenon, I am in no position to preach to others, after all, “everyone laughs at EDG, everyone is EDG”.

In such a volume environment, we all have a certain anxiety, technical people are no exception, the symptom may be to see the course to buy, see the article on the collection, see the resources on the download, I am no exception, but really read not much.

There are many course platforms: Nuggets, Geek Time, MOOC, CDSN Institute, 51CTO Institute, netease Cloud Classroom, Tencent Classroom, as well as various IT teaching platforms of XX Institute, of course, there are physical books.

Column buy don’t look, put mold, play.

Video buy don’t watch, take up hard drive capacity, play.

Buy books, set the table, play.

Article collection don’t look, be a collector, play.

Collection is not equal to learning

In fact, there is nothing bad about being a “collector”, but we must remember that “buying is not equal to learning, collecting is not equal to learning”.

Collecting some articles and paying for discounted courses will give people a certain sense of satisfaction. Some people even think that they have learned something after reading or buying them.

Awake, no matter how valuable your collection of articles, no matter how rich, how you buy the course content of cow X, as long as you don’t have the reading and processing in time, not timely digest and practice, these are not your knowledge, they are just a bunch of text data or video data, are all the data in the computer, not your knowledge.

I’m sorry to interrupt you, but are you reading this, too? If you win, you can like it, and we’ll talk about how to deal with this “collecting but not learning” and give you some of my suggestions.

Of course, this article is not a didactic article, just see this activity in the article a few words, an article. It’s not recommended that you learn everything in your collection, because you don’t have the time. Nor is it against this “collector” behavior, which is normal. But this practice does have a little hidden danger, only “collection” is not enough, but also to take action, not through their own digestion of knowledge, will always be the knowledge of others. Yes, it will always be someone else’s. Even if you collect and save it, you don’t really own it, whether it’s a physical book, or an instructional video, or a column, or even a person, even if you add 65 powerpoint pages.

The way you store stuff, it’s kind of like a hoarder.

Here’s a quote from People’s Daily:

Paper books have been transformed into e-books and audio books, and newspaper information has been transformed into microblogs and videos. However, the deep learning method of learning from each other and integrating knowledge and action has not been changed. At present, people are wary of information hoarding. On the one hand, they are worried about information overload. They no longer have the enthusiasm of borrowing and renting books as they did a few decades ago. On the other hand, they are afraid that in the vast ocean of information, they can only generalize but not deduce, paste but not create, and they can only “pick up the dishes in the basket” and not “select, arrange, cut off and leave”, and gradually lose the ability to think independently. Learning is a means and an end, but hoarding is a means and not an end. Don’t miss the present for the accumulation of the future, otherwise, the satisfaction of possessing information and the panic feeling of lack of knowledge are only one step away. — People’s Daily “The way you store materials is a bit like a hoarder”

Hoarding and collecting is one of many learning methods and steps, but learning is the ultimate goal, can not put the cart before the horse, and can not equate the two.

My main suggestions are as follows:

  1. Independent thinking

Don’t be easily attracted by the title or publicity copy, be sure to clearly identify whether all kinds of content is suitable for yourself, rather than being recommended by others feel they will use, must do two points: temporarily used can not buy or collect, there is no time and energy to learn temporarily do not buy or collect, remember.

  2. Control the quality of collection content

Don’t be rushed into your “favorites” and strictly control the quality of the “knowledge” in your favorites.

  3. Completes the classification

“Favorites” must have a variety of knowledge, we must do a good job of classification and sorting, otherwise one day need to use or want to learn, and it will take a long time to find.

  4. Plan your study well

After all, everyone’s time and energy are limited, and we have a special collection of things, it is impossible to learn and master it completely. Therefore, make a good learning plan, and then strictly implement, if you find that you do not need to look at the process, but also to throw away in time, do not spend too much time.

  5. action

In fact, this step is the most important. It is easier to know than to do. If you can learn little by little according to the contents of books or courses, and follow the teacher to actually knock on codes and test functions, then their knowledge can become your knowledge and these project experiences can become your own project experience.

PS: “Favorites” are not the “favorites” of some APP or entity, but various media that people use to store knowledge, which may be mobile phones, computers, an APP or a website.

I have a tip for you: Make a note of your recent problems and bookmark them. Then digest them in a week.

For example, the front-end students encounter a difficulty: long list scrolling delays or slow resource loading; for example, the back-end students encounter a problem: adding indexes to the database does not improve query efficiency or a certain RPC service invocation takes too long. To address these questions, write them down and collect articles that you think are valuable. List them under the questions and absorb them as soon as they are free. This is the best way to improve yourself. If you are asked what problems you encountered during the development process and how you solved them, you will not be punished by the interviewer.

I hope you can identify all kinds of articles and courses, and then make a good learning plan, and take action, too much knowledge in the favorites to timely clean up, but also need to properly digest part of the content.

conclusion

To tell you the truth, it is a good time now, full of knowledge and rich teaching resources. It is much better than when I taught myself Java.

There were cable video courses, online columns written by big names, and lots of great open source projects to practice on. Really is what all have no, blind groping, all by themselves now friend for a year or two to learn, do, really than several years before I learn and do more, because less and less knowledge of learning barriers, more and more knowledge, no you won’t learn, only you don’t have enough time to learn, I also in constant learning, everyone together come on!

Therefore, do not delay, the knowledge to see, the code to knock, the notes to do, theory combined with practice is the best way to learn.

There is nothing wrong with being a “collector”, but you can’t just be a “collector”. You have to act, learn, code, and share.

I would like to recommend the open source project I recently maintained:

Spring Boot Open source e-commerce project (including mall terminal and background management system) : github.com/newbee-ltd/…

Spring Boot + Vue3 Front and back end separation mall project: github.com/newbee-ltd/…
