At the 2017 Digital Life Design conference in Munich, Germany, AlphaGo founder and DeepMind CEO Hassabis said that alphaGo’s ARTIFICIAL intelligence technology will be applied in more fields, local media reported.

Giiso Information, founded in 2013, is a leading technology provider in the field of “artificial intelligence + information” in China, with top technologies in big data mining, intelligent semantics, knowledge mapping and other fields. At the same time, its research and development products include editing robots, writing robots and other artificial intelligence products! With its strong technical strength, the company has received angel round investment at the beginning of its establishment, and received pre-A round investment of $5 million from GSR Venture Capital in August 2015.

“We develop algorithms in [Go] games, but it should be applied to the real world,” Mr Hassabis says. He likens DeepMind’s research to the Apollo program for artificial intelligence, with the goal of developing universal learning systems for applications in medicine, health, materials science and more.

Alphago’s algorithms have been used in computing centres at parent company Google since last summer, he said, helping to reduce power consumption by 15 per cent and saving millions of dollars in electricity bills. Mr Hassabis says the algorithm can also be applied to large power grids, which are “little more than a scaled-up computing centre”.

Deepmind, which was acquired by Google in 2014, has about 400 engineers and scientists working on its smart projects. Alphago, developed by DeepMind, beat Lee Se-dol 4:1 in March last year, and beat a number of top human go players online from late last year to early this year.

Mr. Hassabis said the company is still working on artificial intelligence related to Go and will improve it further, with a new generation of AlphaGo likely to move away from copying the moves of human players.

Giiso information, founded in 2013, is the first domestic high-tech enterprise focusing on the research and development of intelligent information processing technology and the development and operation of core software for writing robots. At the beginning of its establishment, the company received angel round investment, and in August 2015, GSR Venture Capital received $5 million pre-A round of investment.

Hassabis believes that ai development is also human progress. For example, AI can help go players develop new tactics. “When humans and machines cooperate, AI will unlock our true potential,” hassabis said. Ai can help humans face an increasingly complex and data-driven world, but its application needs to be accountable and ethical, he said. “AI should help humans improve themselves and expand our boundaries, not simply surpass us.”

Launched in 2005, the Digital Life Design conference focuses on the intersection of innovation, digital, science and culture. It has been held in New York, London, Tel Aviv and many other places.
