Maybe IT was a bit of an afterthought, but today I found out that Evernote (for Windows) supports Markdown.

Why impression?

I’ve always been a fan of elephants, and looking through my list of notes, FOUND that I’ve been using elephants since 14, maybe even earlier.

During this time, I tried many other cloud notes, such as Zhizhi, Youdao, Makuo, Caiyun, OneNote, etc.

Among them, in order to know, dao uses more, then say them two.

1. Can’t stand Youdao’s UI

Although youdao Cloud note has more and more rich functions, the speed of iteration is also unmatched by elephants.

Youdao supported Markdown in 2016. Of course, I also used it. For a while, I thought I would stay in Youdao.

However, Youdao’S UI (Windows version) is something I can’t stand!

The Windows version youdao

Look at the folder icon of Youdao, can you bear it? I can’t stand it.

And advertising. Do you need that kind of money? Do you have to put an AD in such a prominent place?

Yeah, I ran away from Youdao because of two minor flaws that you might be able to tolerate.

2, is no longer “cloud notes” for the know

Slogan: The brain is about thinking. Record it to us

I have to say, as we know the slogan is the most consistent with the positioning of cloud note.

For a period of time, to know became my main cloud notes.

It basically meets all my needs: Markdown, clipping, multi-level directories, note-taking shortcuts, and more.

It also has a wealth of plugins and, of course, one small feature that fascinates me: the desktop task list, as shown here:

Desktop Task List

For me this kind of work dog, the task is much and disorderly, an inattentive, the leadership handed over the matter I forgot.

There’s this desktop task list that kind of reminds me of how many tasks I have on my to-do list, and it synchronizes in the cloud.

However, everything was shattered by this announcement:

The free version no longer supports cloud syncing.

I……

The impression of love and hate

Slogan: Use Evernote to achieve more together

I think the slogan of the elephant is obviously unknown.

Now impression is my main force. The basic functions of Evernote can meet daily use, and the overall UI is the most comfortable one among them.

In addition, the impression of a major feature is associated with a lot of external applications, EverMemo, clippings. IO and so on, these small tools are supported to export to the impression.

I have been looking forward to when Elephant will support Markdown, so THAT I don’t have to worry about it any more. The front end time found that the Mac version has been supported, and my helpless and painful Windows version has been temporarily ignored.

A few days ago, when I was messing around, I found that I could check the Beta in the Settings, and I thought maybe the Beta has some surprises waiting for me.

Thanks for waiting, Markdown

Today, I was doing a routine “check for updates” when I was surprised to find a new version of the update log that said support Markdown. Without hesitation, I clicked update!

Update completed:

P.S. Does the new Markdown icon need to be this big?

1. Initial experience

Create a new Markdown note:

The configuration and functions of this editing interface are similar to those of Youdao. The editing bar is divided into left and right sides, with the left side for editing and the right side for preview.

Take a look at its toolbar again (GIF) :

The toolbar

The function support is very rich:

  • You can think of it: tables, pictures, codes, formulas, etc.

  • The unexpected: flow charts, sequence diagrams, Gantt charts, etc.

  • Insert charts, including pie charts, bar charts, bar charts, line charts, etc

I don’t even know what a Gantt chart is…

2. Effect demonstration

Let me pick a few effects to demonstrate.

General, also can see the stage.

The chart

The chart

Here, you can get a different graph by simply changing the value of type:

  • Pie chart

  • Column

  • Bar Chart

  • Line graph

The flow chart

Sequence diagram

Gantt chart

I didn’t use the Gantt chart, so I googled it:

Gantt charts are intrinsically simple. Basically a line graph, with time on the horizontal axis, activities (projects) on the vertical axis, and planned and actual activities completed over the entire period. It visually shows when the task is scheduled to take place and how the actual progress compares to the requirements of the plan.

At work, gantt charts are perfect for planning and project schedules.

The specific Markdown syntax is not explained here, you can look it up on the Internet.

To master, in a word, multi-purpose!

The picture

The Markdown editor of Evernote also supports image editing, which allows you to freely set the length, width and height of your local image in a very convenient way. You can control the image size by adding the following syntax directly after the image name (without space) :

  • @w=300

  • @h=150

  • @w=200h=100

  • @h=100w=200

conclusion

However, the elephant’s support for Markdown was great and confirmed my confidence to stay with the elephant.

But my iOS version still only supports viewing, not editing. I wonder if it will be supported later.

Also, when will the ability to share notes by link come?
