How to cancel or turn off the Mac boot password?
To disable and disable the user password requirement for Mac startup, first disable the file safe function and then enable automatic login for the user account.
Close the File Safe
If you have enabled the file safe, we need to turn it off first to enable automatic login. If you are not sure whether it is enabled, you can also check and turn it off by following the steps below:
1. Click The Apple icon in the upper left corner of the menu bar, and click System Preferences.
2. Click Security and Privacy.
3. After entering the security and Privacy function, switch the upper page to “File Safe”, then click “lock head” in the lower left corner and enter the password to unlock.
4. Click “Turn off Encryption” to confirm to turn off the file safe function again.
Enabling Automatic Login
Now that you’ve confirmed that you’ve turned off the File Safe feature, you’re going to set your current user account to Auto-login so that you don’t have to enter a password when you log in on the Mac.
1. Click The Apple icon in the upper left corner of the menu bar to enable System Preferences. Then click Users and Groups.
2. Switch to the current administrator account, click Lock in the lower left corner, and enter the password to unlock the account.
3. Click Login Options.
4. In the “Auto Login” menu, change from “Close” to your user account, and then enter your password again to confirm.
5. Click “Continue” and you’re done. Now you can boot up or restart your Mac without entering a password.
How do I disable the Mac Screen lock password?
If you don’t want your Mac to enter a password when it goes into sleep mode or wakes up with a screen saver, we can also turn off the Mac lock screen password:
1. Click The Apple icon in the upper left corner of the menu bar, and click System Preferences.
2. Enable Security and Privacy.
3. Switch to “General”, click the “lock” icon in the lower left corner and enter the password to unlock.
4. Deselect The Password required to Go to sleep or start the screen saver.
5. Click “Turn off lock screen” to make sure to turn off the Mac wakeup function that requires a password.
When this is done, you do not need to enter a user password to wake up the Mac.
