My major is Electrical Engineering and automation, so I am a non-professional major. This major is just like other traditional engineering majors, and there is basically no way out if I do not take the entrance examination for graduate school (of course, please ignore all kinds of competitions, awards, scholarships and project experiences during my undergraduate study).

Poor grades or even fail. It was in the second semester of my junior year that I began to contact and learn the front end. Before that, I had almost no foundation and learned C language in my freshman year. In addition, I did not contact any other computer courses and knowledge. But the C language courses of non-computer majors of ordinary colleges and universities….. It was basically teaching you how to pass the exam, not really teaching you a programming subject. Plus, I was also very bad at it at that time. I got a 64 in the final exam, which was the kind I made up for before the exam.

Before transcoding, I always thought C language was the most difficult course.

Yes, this is a mediocre me, even in the category of underachievers. Believe that the students reading this article, at least there are more than 70% of the experience is better than me, right?

That said, I don’t want to take these as excuses. All restrictions start from my own heart. If I just blindly take my school, education background and major as an excuse for my failure, I am just escaping and I don’t want to admit that I am not good at it.

When I was a freshman or sophomore, I was very playful. I didn’t spend my thoughts on study and what I wanted to do in the future. As a result, I spent two years in a muddle, most of my thoughts were spent on associations and some other trifles. Then after the first semester of the winter holiday, I spent five days of time, other times, except eat sleep a bath continuously through communicate with friends and superiors, surfing the Internet for information, read articles and so on a variety of ways, the most important still is in its own interests as a starting point, finally has made the give up professional direction, turning self-study the decision of the front end.

May be many people do not understand, and I thought before the same: after graduation to find a job and major is not right, that is not four years of learning in vain?

Ask is I want to do hardware in the first semester, but the optional courses in the hardware related courses are very few, the second semester is more, so I chose. But I didn’t think I’d be changing careers next semester.

Therefore, I will not only teach myself programming in this semester, but also take a total of 7 professional required + optional courses, almost twice as many as other students in the class. Sometimes, encounter life and death can not solve the problem often doubt themselves, doubt whether they are stupid than others, worse than others, not as good as others, often anxious to affect sleep, but no matter today was abused how to cry, sleep tomorrow wake up is still a hero, continue to put into learning.

In the first few months, the progress was slow, very slow. To June exam month + two professional curriculum design, basic is no time to learn the front end, after all, still have to spend a certain amount of time in professional courses, to ensure that not failing is the most important, I also experienced the pain of failing and make-up exam.

After the end of the semester, I thought I could finally have more time to study by myself, but! Our school, our college, had a summer vacation at the beginning of July, and only after all the students had left school did we send out a notice: summer internship is required! Find your own internship related to your major! The internship will last more than 5 weeks before September!

At that time I was thinking: is god not let me take this road? I do not want to describe this incident too much, it also consumed me quite a long time, I will not go into details.

In a word, the first half of the year was basically spent in halting and halting learning. As far as I could coordinate, I had tried my best. Finally, I really spent less than half of the time on self-learning.

Hard to find the front end of the internship road

At the end of October, I received offers from two small and medium-sized factories and chose one of them. However, when I signed the internship agreement upon entry, I found that it was mandatory to practice until graduation. If I quit early, I would have to pay 3000 liquidated damages (I only talked about long-term internship before, but did not mention liquidated damages, so I thought: Interns run away when they want to, so they take the offer)

I can live with that. Refuse directly and turn your back. Although I now dish, but does not mean that a few months after the dish, a few months after the dish, does not mean that I graduated when the dish, good youth how can be limited to a small factory?

Since I rejected the offer from another company before, they had already found someone when I licked back to HR, so I returned to the state of zero offer.

Later, IN early November, I passed the interview of a small and medium-sized factory, got the offer, and waited to be employed. The result may be due to the special nature of the company (state-owned enterprise? State? Or is it controlled by central enterprises? I don’t know much about these aspects, after all, we are a little taboo for state-owned enterprises and central enterprises in development, but the internship is not a big problem, so I accepted the offer), interns have to carry on the back adjustment, and they have to carry on the back adjustment for half a month, and formal employees carry on the back adjustment for one month or more… He was finally hired in mid-November.

Therefore, I planned to start my job in late October or early November, and leave at the end of January, which was about 3 months, but suddenly became 2 and a half months.

Yeah, I figured out when I was going to leave before I even started. After all, it takes time to prepare for spring.

The company does not clock in, which feels quite good. The original regulation is to go to work at 9:30, but I went to work at 9:30 on the first day, and I went to the company at about 10 o ‘clock, because there was almost no one in the company at 9:30. I was supposed to finish work at 7:00, but I started leaving around 6:30.

During my internship, I almost didn’t work overtime, but it didn’t seem to make any difference to me, because it meant I had more time to go home and study. But mentor and the rest of the back end are doing too much overtime.

Even though I didn’t work overtime during my internship, I lived from 6 to 12.

Get up at 6 o ‘clock every morning, and then read JS Little Red book and Ruan Yifeng ES6 tutorial, see about 9 o ‘clock out of the house, commuting will also use the subway time to read a few computer network blog, make up the basic knowledge of computer, before 10 o ‘clock to the company. I have a two-hour lunch break at noon, and then I spend half an hour to read ES6 tutorials and other documents. I can usually leave at 6:30 in the afternoon. After eating and taking a shower at home, I have more than 8 o ‘clock, and I have more than three hours of study time until 12 o ‘clock.

It was a great time, sleeping less than six hours a night and working and studying 16 hours a day. In the later stage, I felt a little overwhelmed, but I finally persevered. If I hadn’t been working out for more than a year, I’m afraid there would be some problems in the later stage. But now in retrospect a little afraid, or life is important, people died, so now basically have to guarantee 6 and a half hours of sleep.

During more than two months, in addition to the projects in the company, I also made a background management project based on some open source projects and tutorials, and a music small program project (half completed). And I gradually began to write several blogs to summarize and accumulate some knowledge. In addition, I also finished reading JS Little Red Book and RUan Yifeng’s ES6 tutorial.

Although I have made full arrangements for more than two months, MY whole body has become much weaker after the internship. I used to insist on exercising three to four times a week, but I have not done any exercise or exercise since the internship, so my physical fitness is really weaker than before. However, there is still a lot of growth and harvest. Although the internship in the company is not as good as expected, but the department atmosphere and relationship is quite good, but for technical post graduates, state-owned enterprises, central enterprises and public institutions these may not be a good choice, anyway, thanks ~

Throughout March, I sent out some resumes almost every day. There are only a few dozen companies that can join the interview/written test, and the rest of them haven’t responded after a month, that is, they are still in the resume screening process. (I think there is a large probability that there is no HC and haven’t updated the official website in time.)

Speaking of which, I found an interesting phenomenon that those who directly hang my resume are not those large factories, but those small and medium-sized factories. Those who push the giant basic can join in the written test or interview link, rather than push some small and medium-sized factory, directly hung my resume, have to poke fun at once, some business development and profitability of the small and medium-sized factory itself is not going well, highly educated people also love go to the interview, just like me, truth is the person (company) food, love giant 😂 (education)

I could answer all the questions asked, but I failed. In fact, in the company where I worked as an intern before, my leader had a strong desire to retain me for a full-time job. He was offering us some suggestions, but at the same time, he was asking me whether I would like to stay. So I could have happily stayed and enjoyed the second semester of my senior year without having to spend two or three months preparing for interviews and spring recruitment, so that I could spend more time on my graduation project and thesis, but I turned it down.

There are two main reasons: First, as mentioned before, state-owned and central enterprises or enterprises of similar nature may not be a good choice for graduates of development positions, which is not conducive to their future development. Second, I feel that I have been working hard and must find a better opportunity or platform, and can not be satisfied with the status quo. Even when you fail, you gain a lot of experience and knowledge.

As we all know, the IT industry volume level has been one of the best, before transcoding, I certainly know that this industry will be very volume, very volume. But I have never thought of such a big gap between the inner volume of the industry that I belong to and the original major. It wasn’t until I talked to one of my roommates and learned about his interview process (hardware development) that I was stunned, and so was he.

Let me talk about my original major again, because I have not participated in any interview of the school recruitment of my original major, so this is mainly based on the interview experience of one of my roommates for reference, of course, different companies will certainly have some deviation. At the beginning, he participated in the school information meeting of a company in Shenzhen (with thousands of employees). Yeah, that’s right, one interview, and he didn’t even ask me many technical questions. I heard from my roommate that some people in my class or other classes also participated in the interview of this company, and the process was the same and got the offer.

Let’s take this company as a special one. After that, he also participated in other companies’ interviews, which were only one round of technical interviews and one round of HR interviews at most. The technical interviews only lasted about half an hour, with no online coding and some eight-part essays.

As we learned about a difference in each other’s interview process, I fell silent, and so did he.

Test public VS Internet

I believe that many students’ parents have more or less advised us to take the civil service/career editing? After all, older generations defined a good job more in terms of stability.

In fact, my parents are the same, have been urging me to take the exam. The exam may be more suitable for the students who pursue job stability, not examination, and have more free time. The disadvantage may be that the salary is really not high compared with the Internet, if there is no relationship, it is estimated that a lifetime in the grassroots. In addition, the civil service is an industry that can see the end at the first sight. In the future, if you want to jump out of the civil service and seek jobs in other industries, there may be a slight disconnect with social development and market demand, and there will be a big gap in competitiveness compared with those who work in related industries.

The Internet industry is more suitable for students who pursue high salary, good welfare benefits, less bureaucracy, and efforts and gains are basically proportional to the students. I personally very much dislike the someone who has no dignity to woo you don’t like, rather than through their own efforts to get what they want, by contrast, think of the Internet industry, especially in the IT industry, relatively fair will be many, basically how much you pay, how much can harvest, you have much ability, how tall are you salary, Therefore, “for those ordinary people, being a coder is a relatively fair and a better way out” is also reasonable.

Get back to who YOU were

When I was in high school, I was definitely not as hard as many people, but I was definitely one of them. In addition to intensive study, I went back to the playground to run several laps and do push-ups or pull-ups every day during the three years of high school. The biggest effect of it was not that I found a job with a decent salary, nor the industry I love, but that I found the original self who dared to fight for the goal and make all efforts for my dream. Life is a process of continuous self-understanding, every day to the self-understanding is more profound than yesterday, in the process of continuous self-understanding, will certainly find a lot of personal defects, we have to do is to keep trying, to make up for these defects.

When I was a kid, I thought hobbies could be my job. As I grew older, I gradually realized that this idea was naive. Life is life, hobby is hobby, life is much crueler than ideal. Give up your hobbies and compromise with life.

However, now I find that my original intention in childhood is correct. In fact, I gradually lose my original intention in childhood after growing up and having a continuous cognition of the society.

Where do all these talents come from?
