Overview: OceanBase has taken its first step towards multi-mode data management after completing the parallelization of OLAP and OLTP capabilities.
Recently, At the Database OceanBase3.0 Summit, Yang Bing, CEO of OceanBase, announced the official commercial use of CeresDB, the first sequential database product. The database will provide users with safe and reliable data query, storage and management services, and solve problems such as high throughput and horizontal expansion of time series data in monitoring operation and maintenance and Internet of Things scenarios.
This is OceanBase’s first step towards multi-mode in the field of data management after completing the parallelism of OLAP and OLTP dual capabilities.
Time series database, in full name of time series database, is mainly used to manage and store time series data (reflecting the process of things changing with time), among which the Internet of Things, industrial Internet of Things, monitoring operation and maintenance are common application scenarios of time series data. The sequential database can solve the high throughput and high frequency write storage requirements of the data of these iot devices.
CeresDB is a temporal database product based on the OceanBase distributed storage engine. It is used to manage and store time series data, provide high-performance read/write, low-cost storage, and rich multidimensional query and analysis capabilities. It effectively solves the problems of high storage cost and low read and write efficiency of massive time-series data, and has the capability of horizontal expansion and remote disaster recovery. It is suitable for industrial scenarios such as Internet of Things (IoT), operation and maintenance monitoring and financial analysis.
CeresDB also uses industry-leading sequential compression algorithms to compress real-time data at nearly 10 times the compression rate (lossless compression), and designs innovative multi-level storage solutions for pure memory, non-volatile memory, disk and remote storage, respectively. To provide customers with flexible, highly scalable deployment architecture solutions.
“CeresDB has unlimited horizontal scaling and remote disaster recovery capabilities,” said Bing Yang, CEO of OceanBase. “In the future, we will continue to evolve toward sequential HTAP fusion and Schema Less, and provide richer industry-specific operators and algorithm capabilities. And provide corresponding industry solutions together with ecological partners, to help enterprises create the ultimate performance and rich and diverse industry time series data management solutions.”
It is reported that OceanBase is a distributed database independently developed by Ant. It has experienced the super large-scale business scenario of Alibaba, the financial level scenario of Alipay and the Double 11 campaigns, and began to export in 2017. At present, the product has been applied in many institutions, including Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Shandong Mobile, Fujian Mobile, Digital Jiangxi, Sinopec, China Property Insurance, PICC Health insurance, Zheshang Securities, Bank of Tianjin, Bank of Xi ‘an, Changshu Rural Commercial Bank, Dongguan Bank, etc.
After 11 years of development, OceanBase has become the world’s leading database product. Consecutive transaction Processing Task (TPC-C) benchmark world records were set in 2019 and 2020.
