Word to PDF mathtype formula after the code and reduce the image resolution, and a series of problems | perfect solution
Problem description
Recently in a journal paper, directly submitted word document, did not check the submission preview, the first review comments are all: formula garbled, formula garbled, garbled ah!! I was careless. In the second submission, I decided to convert the Word document into PDF and submit it again to avoid the problem of garbled formula. Then the problem came when I converted Word to PDF using either ‘file/export’ or ‘file/save as’ and found that the superscript of the formula was gone.
- Word document
- After converting to PDF using the ‘Export or save as’ method
And!!! And!!! And!!! The resolution of the images is also very low:
- Word document display
- After converted to PDF
Then I tried the “PDF Adobe print” method to convert to PDF, and found that the formula was no problem, but the high-resolution images in Word became lower in PDF. Through many attempts, as well as referring to relevant blogs, found a solution to word to PDF to keep the formula is not garbled, keep the image resolution unchanged. Here’s how to summarize.
The solution
Due to the “file/save as” or “file/export” formula can not be converted normally, so we give up decisively. The formula can be displayed normally by ‘file/print’, so we’ll show you how to improve the resolution of the image in the final PDF by changing the print parameters.
Install Adobe Acrobat Pro
As it is required for office software, it is estimated that most computers have been installed. If not, go online to find out how to install it. I won’t bother here.
Parameter Setting Procedure
The following steps are based on Office Word 2016 and should be similar for other versions.
-
- Open the Word document you need to convert to PDF and then: File-Print. The following screen will appear:
-
- Select Adobe PDF as the printer and click ‘Printer Properties’ to enter the Settings page.
-
- Select ‘Print high Quality’ from the default Settings drop-down list, and then click ‘Edit’ to enter the page for setting print parameters.
- 4 Click ‘Image’, select ‘Off’ for ‘Reduced Pixel Sampling’ and ‘Compressed’, increase the pixel to 800 or higher, then click OK. It jumps to the save Settings screen, and just click ‘Save’ (no need to change the folder).
- 5 Normally, the “default setting” in step 2 will be “High Quality Print(1)”. If so, it means that the setting is complete and click “OK”. If it is still the value of the previous page, click the drop-down list box and select “High Quality Print(1)” inside. Note that this name is the same as the Settings saved in the previous step.
- 6 Go back to step 1 and click ‘Print’. Output PDF document, formula format is correct, picture hd, perfect!!
