(1) Preface
First of all, happy New Year! This should be my first article since writing hydrology, I think big New Year’s day everyone technical article also have no what interest bar! This one I just played it my way.
New Year at home, there is a question often asked by relatives: what do you do? My hometown is an island in Zhejiang province, where the quality of life is quite high and the pace of life is very slow. Naturally, there is no Internet company here. So my relatives couldn’t understand what it was like to be a programmer. My answer is: I am engaged in computer. Let their imaginations run wild (my grandparents used to think I was a computer repairman for a while).
From graduation to now, I have been working in this industry for nearly one year with my internship. Combined with a large number of examples of programmers around me, I probably have a certain understanding of this industry.
(2) Talk about salary
Let’s start with the salary question that everyone is concerned about. Do programmers get paid well? With the same degree and the same experience, it is true that programmers earn the highest salaries of all professions, but the saying that a fresh graduate earns 300,000 yuan a year is cheap only exists at the top of the industry. Companies like BAT, Bytedance, meituan, and the vast majority of programmers are closer to the local average wage.
(3) Talk about overtime
As for overtime, it depends on the company. I have a friend in Ali. He worked overtime very hard when he was busy with the project. Once we went out to play and took out the computer to work at 1:00 in the morning in a b&B. However, when the project is loose, it is not so exaggerated and can go home earlier. The company THAT I am in is off twice a day, a few months of project busy work overtime serious, ordinary time 965, also calculate idle, but salary cannot and above that compare.
The problem of overtime is not limited to programmers. I know builders and doctors who work overtime as much as programmers. So you have to be rational.
(4) Talk about the prospects
As for prospects, a lot of people have heard rumors about programmers being “optimized” at 35, and I did see an age limit on job boards. But if your technology is good enough, it is too late for other companies to steal you, where to optimize this term. I admire guju, a senior programmer of Ali. He is one of the few programmers at the top of Ali. The code has made him rich and free, but he still keeps coding with his hands every day. For such programmers, do you think the age of 35 will be his stumbling block? 35 will only give him years to fight.
(5) My opinion
I think programmer is one of the jobs most likely to come back, along with civil servants, doctors, etc. This is a career that will allow you to earn more right out of college than any other industry (under the same conditions). Some people will say that they do not have the talent of those computer professionals in Zhejiang University and Tsinghua University, but as long as you work hard at coding, it is very likely to change your destiny.
There is a saying that I think is very suitable for this position, which is to sneak up on the top when no one is looking, and then surprise everyone. Indeed, you may be able to double your salary in a single move, as long as you stick to this path.
I’m fish boy, happy Spring Festival, everyone. See you next time.
