OpenProject is an open source project collaboration management software. It is an alternative to proprietary schemes such as Trello and Jira.

For personal use, you can use it for free and set it up (and host it) on your own server. That way, you can control the data.

Of course, if you are an enterprise Cloud edition user, then you have access to advanced features and priority help.

OpenProject 9 focuses on the new panel view, package list view, and working template.

If you don’t know about it, try it. However, if you are an existing user — you should be aware of these new features before migrating to OpenProject 9.

What’s new in OpenProject 9?

Here are some of the major changes in the latest release of OpenProject.

Scrum and Agile panels

For Enterprise Cloud Edition, there is a new Scrum and Agile panel view. You can also showcase your work in kanban style to make it easier to support your Agile and Scrum teams.

The new panel view lets you easily know who is assigned to the task and quickly update the status. You also have different panel view options, such as basic, Status, and version.

Work package template

You don’t have to create everything from scratch for each individual work package. Instead, you only need to keep one template so you can use it when you need to create a new work package. This will save a lot of time.

New work package list view

In the work package list, there’s a tiny new feature that lets you see the profile pictures of people assigned for a particular job.

My page shows what you’re working on (and how far), and it shouldn’t always be dull. So now you can customize it and even add gantt charts to visualize your work.
