You may have gone a long way in your dream, but also in the past, or in the future, you do not know what kind of road, this road has bumps and collisions. Today, I am here to share with you a simple experience, from the beginning as a new guy to the present team, I will expand around four stages.

Many new people will have a puzzle, for example, in the work arrangement, it is often arranged to better ability, more mature people to lead the new people, 99% of the arrangement is like this. But the problem is that what he does is not the same as how he teaches people.



For example, IN the management field of Tencent, I am a relative newcomer who is also learning, so it is a normal situation that a senior does not know how to teach. It is not because I am a senior that I say so, but it is true. Therefore, you should understand that he may not know how to teach you, but there is one thing for sure. He has experience and knowledge, and respects the experience of others, which needs a basis for communication.

Another thing is, when I go to a new company, some people, especially those who just entered the industry, will think that I want to do something amazing, I want to transform the industry, there is always a big gap.

 

There are so many people in a theme architecture, such as developers, products and designers. More than 300 people discussing a product is completely different from you doing it alone when you create a product after graduation. Your cost is at least 300 or 1000 times. Therefore, I would like to give a piece of advice to friends who are new to the industry. No major is completely independent and I can ignore it completely. That is to say, most of the time, we need to cooperate and seek common ground while reserving differences.

 

In addition, growth is not compromise, coordination and cooperation are important. You have to know whether you are going to compromise or cooperate, and every time you compromise, you have to know what this compromise is for, whether it is for the sake of cooperation, or whether I am just avoiding trouble.

Look at the pictures and do everything to know where the power point is. Some people are blind and don’t know what I want to do. I suggest that you know where the opportunities are. That is to say, you don’t have to worry about so much. You should focus on doing a good job in one area, which will benefit you.

 

Second, the senior

Friends who have worked for about 4 or 5 years can be called senior level. OK, this level of the crowd is more, everyone began to be embarrassed, wavering, have ideas. Should I move to another company or go to BOSS Direct to find a job?

 

When you enter the company, you’re the smallest individual, and a few years go by and some people buy cars, buy houses, get married, and you’re still here. Don’t you feel pressure when everyone around you is getting promoted and everyone next to you is new? At best you’re a senior, at worst you’re a ghost.

How to solve this problem? Do you want to consider the possibility that the problem could happen to you? The first thing you need to think about is, what exactly is the company looking for in this position? You think about how the company makes its products, what kind of company it’s going to be, and what you need.

The industrial chain of the company and its business model will be different, but they will have one thing in common, that is, most companies need T type talents. This T type person is one of those things that you specialize in, and you know a little bit about the side. Why should you know anything about it? Because to have cooperation, you need to know something about each other in cooperation, so you need to know a little bit.

But this T-shaped person is imaginary. Why? It’s very simple. Just listen to those classes and you know product managers and you know marketing. Is it really that simple? It’s not that simple. But why didn’t the company give me more time to train? Of course not. A company is not a school. You’re here to do your job.

 

So I would suggest that you become an inverted triangle type of talent, in your standard above to develop to learn. So how do you find this opportunity? Opportunities are already there in every day of your life and work. Let’s say I’m a visual designer, doing GUI, do you read some brand books, related to your perspective, do you read some communication things, do you read some media things, to learn this.

Find something that is relevant to your job. When I was training at Agence France-Presse, I was originally a graphic designer, and one day the branch in The UK said, do any of the designers in our global group know how to do some web animation? It was 2000, and I said, “I know a little bit. Give me more time.” And that’s when I became their first multimedia designer.



Do you think I should ask why you didn’t train me? What is impossible is to take the opportunity to learn these things by yourself. Okay, you’re going to be an inverted triangle now, okay?

This is your company, where each lane represents a different division of work. Obviously, a healthy company must have a division of labor, everyone has their own section, you will also have your own position, the white car, there are four cars in front of you, you can’t get over the car.

One day a car leaves and there is a vacancy. If you are ready, you can move up and grab the opportunity. It’s a natural move to move you here because you’ve been with the company for a while, you know the business, you know how it makes money, and you have a little bit of that. Do you think if you were the boss, you would not let one of your own people move in to fill the vacancy? So, it’s a natural thing.

 

There are two important points here. First, you should not just do it for money. In the end, there will be only one designer in the whole company instead of six designers.



So you have to know where you’re going, as if you’re flat, and then you’re writing some code for the Web, and you’re doing some business research, which of course doesn’t work. Everyone’s mind space is limited, you can’t pack so many things, you have to learn to choose, look a little bit further, what you want to be in ten or twenty years.

 

There is also a point that you do not worry, most friends more or less will have a little anxious heart, want to see some results in the short term. But the key is to remind yourself,Don’t be too anxious, most of the time is to have a certain amount of time to be able to settle down slowly to develop.

 

Third, with people

Are you senior? Do you have abilities in several different disciplines? Are you familiar with the business? If all is well, then you can think about how to guide people when you become a senior teacher. When many people bring new people, they often have a very direct idea, that is to say, you are the same as me in those days, what kind of road I have gone through before, so how should I tell you now.



One of the easiest ways to learn is to turn yourself into the past and use your past experience to teach new people. But the thing is that you need to realize that everyone is unique and not necessarily the same as you. At this point, you need to put yourself in your shoes and think about what I would like my boss to say to me as a new person, how I would like my boss to encourage me, and then you should say the same thing.

 

There are four main problems: ignorance, inadequacy, inaction and inability.

View the picture do not know; It’s simple. I don’t know. When you look back now, you may forget that you didn’t know three things about ABC, but actually you didn’t know six things about ABCDEF. So now there is a lot of new people don’t know, you should give them some clear direction to guide, or encourage him to find, because he also has to have how to learn how to find an ability.

Inadequate; “T.c. I can’t do this, I know what it is, but I don’t have enough time, what do I do?” When you hear this, it may not be true, but as a mentor, you need to not only demand answers, but also provide resources, or let him know where to get those resources. If you tell him where to get it and he still doesn’t want to get it, he deserves it.

View the picture is not: now most of the students, the idea will be a bit more individual, a bit more unique. When I was a kid, I used to go to the boss with a book, and when I heard “OK”, there was no problem, I would do it. But in this day and age, most students are not afraid to ask questions, but also to ask why we do what we do. Thinking is a good thing, but there may be some collisions. We need to communicate with them more about ideas, about direction, about values. Although these may be relatively empty, not immediately can reflect the results, but these things still need to tell them.

Viewing pictures cannot; Everyone feels that they have something that they can’t do. I used to think I couldn’t code, and I ended up teaching students how to code; There were times when I could not speak Mandarin, but now I can stand here at BOSS Zhipin and share with you in Mandarin. So break through their own line to their own, is the need to work hard. This means that you must encourage him to break through the bottleneck, not by reaching out for him, but by pushing him.

Four, the boss

So a lot of times you will find that you are dealing with generations of new people who have different values, different personalities and different perspectives on things. One day you may try so many ways that you can’t figure out how they think, which means you don’t understand the new person. Although you are a little far away from young people in mind and communication, your experience is very valuable. If you are the head of a department, you will also want to bring in new people to settle down these senior colleagues. This is another way to pass on knowledge and experience.

Another important point is starting a business. Is it a good thing to start a business first?



If the ability required to start a business is 1, the design ability is only one tenth of it, and there are many other skills such as finance and customer service. The most important ability is to determine each partner in the company to develop in a proper direction, give play to their ability, and combine the strengths of each person in your team.

In addition to making sure you have the right person to do everything, as a startup owner you’re going to be dealing with a lot of different companies, and that’s something to think about. Where are we going to take this team? What the hell is going on? What chain of interests do I have?

That is, why does your department, your company exist? When I think about why I exist, I know what I want to do next and what kind of things I want to do. These are related.

Most of the skills of designers and design experts are just a part of the skills needed to be a leader. Another important skill is management. There is a classic saying: leadership is to choose to do the right thing, management is to do things right. If you’re just a little leader, go to work, you just have to get things done and deliver a steady, high-quality output on time. Is that management? No, management is time management, cost management, human resources management.

There is also leadership, which is to lead people to do what work in ordinary work, combined to produce a result. Just like I said before, you are a brand company, and you need to do a little market research for normal operation. Why do you want to develop more IT business? Why do you want to do this? What are the choices in this matter? The thinking here is really the thinking of leadership.

 

There’s another word, vision. When I first listened to it, I felt very resistant. I thought the vision was kind of empty. And then I did it for a while, and I looked at some companies, and I realized that you really have to have a vision, and a vision exists.
