There are so many different languages and developers will choose their own language for different situations, but do you know how many developers in China and around the world use your language? How do they rank? See how many lists you recognize!
Programming languages are the foundation of development. There are so many different languages and developers will choose their own language for different situations, but do you know how many developers in China and around the world use your language? How do they rank?
Today we take a look at the top programming languages on the list! Not only will they tell you what languages are most spoken, but there are plenty of interesting language “trivia” waiting to be discovered. Check out these lists for 2019!
1, the TIOBE
TIOBE is probably one of the most familiar and authoritative lists of programming languages for developers, updated every month with comprehensive data sources that accurately reflect the popularity of each language. We’ve pulled some of the numbers from this month’s TIOBE list. Take a look!
TIOBE Programming Language Rankings for December 2019:
In the top five, WITH the rise of the Internet of Things, C has maintained its steady popularity. It is worth mentioning that Python is considered the dark horse in the language world with the fastest growth of 1.93%. Thanks to Python’s continued popularity, C++ was overtaken by Python in July, becoming the only language in the top five of 2019 to fall in the rankings.

Annual ranking of some languages (1984-2019) :
In January, TIOBE will release its 2019 programming language rankings, so let’s see how your language ranks this year.
2, PYPL
PYPL is ranked based on the frequency of Google searches. It not only ranks programming languages, but also ides, Odes (Online IDES) and databases. Its data comes from Google Trends, which means that the more frequently a language is searched in Google, the more popular that language is.

The PYPL line chart also supports user customization, with the option to view only the languages you are most interested in and their popularity trends in different countries. But PYPL currently only supports statistics from five countries, so you can choose what you want to view.
3, IEEE Spectrum
IEEE Spectrum is the flagship website of IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to engineering and applied technology. IEEE Spectrum is best known in China for its Chinese-language publication, Technology Overview.
As you can see, there are four ICONS behind each language, which is where IEEE Spectrum is most popular. It divides the development fields of four languages, namely web development, enterprise application, mobile device or embedded device. According to the application scenarios of each language, users can choose to hide the fields they do not want to see, which is very helpful for developers to analyze their employment plans.
4, RedMonk
RedMonk is a quarterly list based on how many projects a language has on GitHub and how many tabs appear on Stack Overflow, two of the most respected sources of open source and technology discussion.

5, Stack Overflow
Every year, Stack OverFlow asks developers to participate in a survey that measures the developer profile on Stack OverFlow in terms of nationality, seniority, and education. Stack OverFlow also takes a look at the most popular programming languages on the site. Interestingly, it also takes a look at the languages developers hate the most and want to learn or use the most.
Stack OverFlow Programming Languages 2019
It’s a different ranking than anything I’ve seen before. For the fourth year in a row, Rust was the most popular programming language among respondents, followed by Python, the fastest growing language today. Python also topped the list of most interesting languages for the third year in a row, with developers who don’t use Python saying they want to learn it!
6, making Octoverse
GitHub is a well-known open source community, which should be well known among developers. GitHub also has a fair amount of statistics due to its large open source project and developer audience.
