Introduction: Basic software cloud biogenesis.

Everybody is good! I am the head of aliyun operating system team and also the chairman of Dragon Lizard operating system open source community. I wrote an article about cloud native operating systems and have a deep understanding of the “fundamental software for cloud evolution.” Operating systems are so basic and traditional that you might wonder: how does an operating system relate to such a hot concept as cloud native? When I joined Aliyun in 2013, I was constantly thinking about how the basic software and operating system should be made. At the beginning of cloud computing, the virtual machine mode was used. Later, with the deployment of containers and K8s, the operating system played a very important role in the software implementation process. The earliest containers, for example, used features inside the operating system like Cgroup and Namespace to make the containers run better and faster. Now look at the whole operating system how cloud biogenesis, the most core point is flexibility, stability, security and other characteristics.

** When it comes to resiliency, ** We are considering operating systems for “cloud” services, whether elastic computing services, or cloud native services such as ECI, functional computing, and other instances, how can the operating system provide the best resiliency? So we created the cloud native underlying system at Ali: Kangaroo.
What functions does the kangaroo provide? In short, it is extremely dense and flexible. Our Kangaroo security container and Ali Cloud security sandbox can pop 3000 containers in 30 seconds, and can run more than 2000 containers on one machine at the same time. This is a huge challenge in the operating system world. When it comes to stability, the stability on the cloud is not the same as the stability we are used to talking about. What’s the difference? The stability of Ali cloud is tempered by large-scale deployment and practice on the cloud. As a result, the operating system on Aliyun is one to two times more stable than any of the most stable operating systems known. I just mentioned that we have made a lot of innovations in the operating system in Aliyun. Today, WE hope to share these innovations with our partners in the industry. This morning ali Cloud intelligent basic product Division general manager Jiang Jiangwei, announced that Ali cloud released a new operating system “Dragon lizard” and open source. At the same time, ali Dharma operating system laboratory was established. We will share our cloud-based operating system technology accumulated in Aliyun for free through Dragon Lizard operating system and open source community, and provide technical support for at least 10 years. We also hope to work with community partners such as Tongxin Software, Intel and three major operators to realize the overall cloud biogenesis of basic software and influence and promote the evolution of the overall basic software.
One final point I want to make is that the underlying software, although a very basic component, has been significantly influenced by the cloud as it has evolved. We are very happy to see aliYun take a small step forward in the field of basic software for cloud evolution, and we hope to take a big step forward in the field of basic software with our partners through dragon Lizard operating system and open source community.
