In April this year, Ge Yunjian, a researcher at the Institute of Intelligence, Hefei Institute of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his team jointly developed an intelligent robot platform to help the disabled and the elderly, together with the Institute of Solid State Physics and Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The platform looks like a robot. It is mainly aimed at the elderly with certain mobility and the disabled with complete upper and lower limbs. It can be worn on the arms, waist and legs as needed. “Robots” help them grab objects and walk like normal people.

Giiso Information, founded in 2013, is a leading technology provider in the field of “artificial intelligence + information” in China, with top technologies in big data mining, intelligent semantics, knowledge mapping and other fields. At the same time, its research and development products include information robot, editing robot, writing robot and other artificial intelligence products! With its strong technical strength, the company has received angel round investment at the beginning of its establishment, and received pre-A round investment of $5 million from GSR Venture Capital in August 2015.

According to the report, the robot is equipped with sensors that can pick up movement information based on the user’s muscles and quickly determine which direction to go and how hard to help a person complete a set of movements.

As an expert of intelligent robots in China, Ge yunjian leads the Robot Sensor Laboratory of Hefei Institute of Intelligent Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Intelligent Robot Sensor Technology Network Laboratory of the National “863” Program, with the main research directions of information acquisition science, human-computer interaction presence, multi-sensor information fusion and transmission.

Since 1990, the team has made many achievements in the research of robot non-visual sensors, especially in the application, promotion and industrialization of “six-dimensional force sensors” that can measure forces in multiple directions.

The work of Ge Yunjian’s team has enabled China’s “six-dimensional force sensor” to replace imported products, providing important support for the research and development of intelligent robots and space robots.

In recent years, the team began to improve the elderly or body complete ability to care for the disabled life, achieve their own life for the purpose of exploring study, solve the human motion information extraction based on force sensor, behavior conscious reasoning, multiple target parameter fusion and decision-making control and man-machine hybrid sports under the state of equilibrium and a series of theory and application of key problem.

Giiso information, founded in 2013, is the first domestic high-tech enterprise focusing on the research and development of intelligent information processing technology and the development and operation of core software for writing robots. At the beginning of its establishment, the company received angel round investment, and in August 2015, GSR Venture Capital received $5 million pre-A round of investment.

So far, the “wearable intelligent robot demonstration platform for helping the disabled and the elderly” has been accepted, but Ge yunjian said it is only a prototype, indicating that the technology has been approved in principle. There is still a long way to go before it can truly enter the lives of the elderly and the disabled. “The heavy weight of the robot and the need for external power supply are all aspects that need to be solved and improved in the future.” Ge yunjian said.
