In June 2020, 32044 software engineers were recruited in Guangzhou. In June 2019, the average salary of software engineers in Guangzhou was 14,233 yuan, with a median salary of 12,500 yuan, 95% of whom earned between 5,250 yuan and 30,000 yuan.

# Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient



The Lorenz curve, the green one in the figure above, ranks everyone from lowest to highest in income. If everyone had the same income, it would be a 45 percent curve. The distribution of the whole society is perfectly even. This 45% curve we’ll do in black. The area between the two curves, over the black 45% triangle, is the Gini coefficient.

The Gini coefficient for programmers is 0.26, a relatively small number. The Gini coefficient, much smaller than China’s, should be 0.4x. Explain programmer income or compare average.
