Introduction to the

Visual Studio Code has gradually become the mainstay of front-end development because it is so light and feature-rich. Vscode Coding partners will also install a lot of plug-ins. But when you’re ready to change computers, are you worried about migrating plugins and Settings? When I changed my computer, I wrote down all my favorite plug-ins on vsCode and then reinstalled them on the new computer. It was stupid. Today I’ll show you how vsCode synchronizes Settings and plug-ins.

The preparatory work

  • Download the Settings Sync plug-in
  • Making account

1. Install Settings Sync

Setting Sync shortcut keys:

  1. Upload: Shift + Alt + U (Sync: Update/Upload Settings)

  2. Shift + Alt + D (Sync: Download Settings)

If the shortcut keys conflict, you can set Ctrl + K + S to configure other shortcut keys or Ctrl + P/F1 to enter >sync on the command window, corresponding commands are displayed for you to select

2. Open a lot

So you get a token, you better find a place to write it down. Because that’s the key to setting up synchronization.

3. Configure the token to vsCode

(Sync: Update/Uplaod Settings) Shift + Alt + U Type your token in the popover and press Enter to generate a syncsummary.txt file

If you’re using a newer version of vsCode

Open the Settings, type sync in the search box, and you’ll see your token

4. Set the synchronous download Settings

(Sync: Download Settings) Shift + Alt + D Type your GIST value in the popup window and it will be synchronized in a few minutes

5. To reset the synchronization Settings, change other tokens

Ctrl+P/F1 pop up and type >sync to reconfigure your other tokens to synchronize

When uploading synchronization Settings, the operation information can be seen under vsCode
