We’ve shared a lot of this information with you through the Modern Android Development (MAD Skills) series of articles and the MAD Skills content highlights page on the Android Developer Documentation. Now, it’s time to learn about your MAD score! Today, we’re launching the MAD scorecard that shows how modern you are as an Android developer, from the number of Jetpack libraries you use to the percentage of apps written with Kotlin.
Your MAD scorecard will give you useful information through Android Studio, such as how much you can reduce the size of your application through Android App Bundle packaging. It highlights various key MAD technologies, including specific Jetpack libraries and Kotlin features that you can use. You’ll even get your own MAD character for your MADdest skills (who knows, you might become a MAD scientist).
MAD scorecard acquisition method
The new Android Studio plugin allows you to personalize your MAD score. Here’s how to get and share your scorecard:
- Step 1: Install the plugin: Search and download the MAD Scorecard plugin from Android Studio’s plugin marketplace. Install easily and quickly through Studio.
- Step 2, run the plug-in: You can always find the MAD Scorecard plug-in under Analyze in the Studio main menu. Click Analyze, then click Run to start creating your own scorecard.
- Step 3: View and share your scorecard: When your plug-in is finished running, Studio will send you a notification containing your personal link that provides all the details contained in your scorecard. Hope you are satisfied and share your results with others!
Upgrade your Skills through the MAD Skills series
Once the scorecard is out of the way, check out the episodes in the MAD Skills video series and articles that we created to help you learn how to use the latest technology in Modern Android Development to make it easier to build better apps. We’ve crafted a three-week series on topics ranging from navigation to Kotlin to Android Studio, each ending with a Q&A to answer your questions. You can check out our early topics like Material Design components, App bundles, and navigation, or head over to our Android Developers YouTube channel to learn more about subsequent topics.
Check out your MAD scorecard and share it with all your friends!
