For well-known reasons, it may be difficult for some of you to download Chrome extensions online. One option is to have a friend export a successful Chrome extension to a local file, then have the friend send it to him, report the local file from his local computer and drag it directly to the Chrome Extension Settings page, so that the extension can be installed offline without the need for a network.
This article describes how to export a Chrome extension to a local file on a computer that already has it installed.
If you look at your Chrome extension Settings screen, you’ve probably seen that each extension has an ID, made up of lots of lowercase letters.
These extensions are stored locally in this folder:
C: the Users < your username > AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefaultExtensions:
To back up these folders, just click on the “Pack Extension” button in Chrome:
Extension root directory Select these folders and follow the instructions.
Finally, save to the local Chrome extension application in CRX or PEM format.
Send these CRX and PEM to your friends and they can install it offline.
