Xcode creates Playground “Xcode 12 Beta” by Xs·H
Xcode 12.0 beta can’t create Playground? No!
The authors tried Xcode 12.0 beta for the first time since WWDC 2020. I wanted to create Playground to try out the new feature, but when I started Xcode, I found that the Playground creation entry was missing… Here’s a comparison:
The author’s first thought was: “No, because Xcode is in beta, does it leave Playground out? It doesn’t make sense!” So the author finds a Playground file locally, right clicks it and opens it with Xcode 12.0 beta, and everything is fine. This shows that Xcode still supports Playground. Since Playground is still supported, there must be a way to create Playground. With a little probing, the author finds the entrance:
Playground creation entry: File -> New -> Playground, shortcut keys are: Shift +option+command
The schematic diagram is as follows:
It’s not clear why Xcode 12.0 Beta removed the Playground creation entry that started the welcome screen.
