Make sure your Mac meets the system requirements of the night view, then follow these steps:
1. Choose Apple Menu > System Preferences, and then tap Monitor.
2. Click the Night View TAB.
Timing: Create a custom night view schedule, or have the night view turn on automatically from sunset to sunrise.
Manual: Manually control the night view.
- If night browsing is off, check this box to enable night browsing until 7 a.m. If you set the time, the night view will automatically close at the set time.
- If night viewing is enabled, deselect this check box to turn off night viewing. If you set the time, the night view will open again at the set time.
Color temperature: drag the slider to adjust the color temperature when the night view is on. Warmer color temperatures show more yellow and less blue.
You can also control the Manual Settings through the Notification Center. Tap the “Notification Center” icon in the menu bar, or swipe from the right side of the trackpad to the left. Then scroll up to display the night view Settings.
Time automatically open the night view
1. On a Mac, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Monitor, and then Night View.
2. Click the “Set time” pop-up menu and select an option.
- Off: Select this option if you do not want to automatically open the night view.
- Custom: Select this option to specify when you want the night view on and off.
- Sunset to sunrise: Select this option to use the night view during sunset to sunrise.
If you select this option, Mac will use your location information to determine the night time for you. To use this option, you must turn on Location Services. Choose The Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security and Privacy, and then click Privacy. Select Enable Location Services, scroll down to System Services, click Details, select Set Time Zone, and then click Finish.
Manually open and close the night view
Even if you set a time for the night view, you can turn it on or off at any time (for example, when the room gets dark).
1. On a Mac, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Monitor, and then Night View.
2. Select Manual to open the night view.
The night view remains open until the next day or you turn it off. To turn it off, deselect Manual.
【 Tip 】 You can also turn on and off the night view in the Notification Center. Open the Notification Center, swipe down, and click the Night View button. Or, ask Siri to turn it on or off for you.
Set the color temperature
1. On a Mac, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Monitor, and then Night View.
2. Drag the slider to change the color temperature used for the night view.
