I. Introduction to UiPath

UiPath is one of the more popular software in the RPA (Robotic Process Automation) field (Automation Anywhere; Blue Prism, etc.). It frees employees from repetitive and boring tasks.

UiPath consists of three parts:

  1. Uipath Studio (an advanced process design tool for creating workflow);
  2. UiPath Robot (used to run workflow generated by UiPath Studio);
  3. UiPath Orchestrator (a network application based on UiPath Studio and UiPath Robot to manage the coordination of multiple robots)

Developers mainly use Uipath Studio for process formulation.

Second, the UiPath Studio

UiPath Studio is a complete application integration solution that automates third-party applications, manages IT tasks and business IT processes. One of the most important concepts in Studio is automation projects.

A project is a graphical representation of a business process. It enables you to automate rules-based processes by giving you full control over the order of execution and the relationships between custom sets of steps (also known as activities in UiPath Studio). Each activity involves a small action, such as clicking a button, reading a file, or writing to the log panel.

The main types of projects supported are:

  • Sequences – Suitable for linear processes, allowing you to move smoothly from one activity to another without messing up the project.
  • Flowcharts – For more complex business logic, enabling you to integrate decisions and join activities in a more diverse way with multiple branch logic operators.
  • State Machines – for large projects; They use a limited number of states in execution that are triggered by conditions (transitions) or activities.

Download and install UiPath

Download: www.uipath.com/developers/… Fill in the necessary information, especially the email address, qq email or netease email is not supported, fill in Microsoft email or company email (.com), then submit, go to the login email and click the download link. Installation: One-click installation.

Activate: directly follow his prompt to activate the line, will jump to a Uipath website address, let you fill in some information, as long as the email is filled in your previous download email, other can fill in, fill in and submit, and then open uipath again, there is no prompt to activate the pop-up box.

4. Uipath tool interface introduction

  • Start – Create a project or open a previously created project, switch to a Beta or Stable version, go to an online document or submit a request. By default, the project C:\Users\Username\Documents\UiPath is created.

  • DESIGN – Create or start sequence, flow, or state Mechin diagrams, access wizards, manage variables, and examine user interface elements from third-party applications.

  • EXECUTE – Runs or stops the project, starts the debug process, slows down steps and opens logging.

  • SETUP- Publish projects or create shortcuts to them, schedule tasks, and install extensions with a single click.

  • Universal search bar

The common search bar enables users to find anything contained in Studio’s Activities, Libraries, Projects, and Designer panels.

  • Play group

The Activities panel provides quick access to all available activities that can be dragged to the current project.

It has a search box that lets you hide or show active “favorites”, “Recent” and “available” folders through the “Show Active” list.

The Library panel allows you to easily reuse automation. Includes a search box to find items faster.

It contains multiple samples and fragments by default, and you can add your own samples and fragments by clicking the Add Folder button and selecting a directory from your hard drive.

To delete a folder, right-click the folder and select Delete.

Note: If you add empty folders, they will not be displayed.

  • The project team

Use the Project panel to view the contents of the current project

  • Properties pane

The Properties panel has context, allowing you to view and change the properties of the selected activity.

Properties can be sorted alphabetically, and specific properties can be found using the search box.

Vi. Shortcut keys:

  • Ctrl + D – Ignores the currently selected activity by putting the current activity into the Comment Output container.
  • Ctrl + E – Deletes the activity from the Comment Output container where it was placed.

Workflow execution

  • F5 – Runs the currently open workflow.

Pause – Suspends the execution of the current workflow in normal and debug mode.

  • F12 – Stops the execution of the current workflow in normal and debug mode.
