Introduction: ** Data is a fundamental strategic resource of the country, and data security is related to national security and economic and social development. Data security legislation was included in the legislative plan of the 13th NPC Standing Committee in September 2018. After nearly three years, after three times of deliberation, on June 10, 2021, the 29th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress formally voted to pass the Data Security Law of the People’s Republic of China. The law will come into force on September 1, 2021.
