There are a lot of hidden features on MacOS that people don’t know about. Here are 7 Mac tips you should know to help you get the most out of your Mac. Interested partners quickly and xiaobian together to see it!
1. Fine tuning of volume and screen brightness
As we all know, the MacBook has volume and brightness buttons (as can the Touch Bar) that allow for more subtle volume and brightness adjustments if you hold down the Option +Shift key while holding down the volume or brightness button.
2. Customize keyboard shortcuts
You can create custom keyboard commands for specific applications or all applications by going to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts TAB > Select APP Shortcuts. From here, click the + button to add a new menu title and keyboard shortcut.
3. The Spotlight calculator
Using Spotlight allows you to do faster and easier calculations than opening your calculator app. Use Command + space to open Spotlight and type in the simple math problem you need to solve.
4. Use keys to look up WiFi passwords
If you forget the password for your WiFi network, you can use the key chain to see it. Open the keystring to access the application, and then select “System”, find the WiFi network and double-click, and then select “Show password” in the pop-up window. After entering the account password, the WiFi password will be displayed in plain text. You can view all saved logins and passwords in keychain access if necessary.
5. Hide the menu bar
Many people choose to hide the Dock when it’s not needed to get more screen real estate. Select Dock in system preferences and check Show and Hide Dock automatically. In fact, the menu bar at the top of the Mac can do the same. Again in system preferences, select “General” and then check “Auto Hide and show menu bar”. In this screen, you can also choose to “use the dark menu bar and dock” for a different macOS experience.
6. Replace the exit button of the Touch Bar
If you hate the non-physical exit button on Apple’s Touch Bar MacBook Pro, most apps support the option to do the same via keyboard commands. The Command + period key can also be used to exit a full-screen window.
7. Switch between different Windows of the same application
In general, using Command + Tab allows you to quickly switch between apps, whereas if you have multiple Windows open in the same app, you can use Command + tilde (the key to the left of the number 1) ** to quickly switch.
