You’ll never have a problem without a computer, and even the best Macs can have problems, so it’s possible to run into error code on a Mac. Below, we’ve listed some of the most common error codes encountered on macs, and how to fix them.
The 5 most common Mac error codes
- Error code 41
Error code 41 can pop up in multiple applications and operations, and you tend to see messages with “memory is full (open) or file cannot fit (load)” or “Unable to load Finder errors.”
It often indicates that some software or hardware on the Mac is outdated, but error code 41 can also pop up from system files or directories that have been damaged or compromised by malware.
To fix error code 41, update the faulty software, or perhaps uninstall the program entirely and reinstall a clean version of it. Updating macOS to the latest version also helps.
Checking your Mac for viruses and cleaning up garbage and cache files also helps fix error code 41.
If you encounter error code 1309 at any time, updating the software and macOS can also help.
- Error code 50
Error code 50 occurs when your Mac cannot move or copy files from a portable storage device, such as an external hard disk. This can happen because of corrupted or corrupted file data, firmware problems, or communication problems between the Mac and the storage device.
You can fix this error code by assigning a new name to the file before opening it or a new name to the file before moving it. It also helps to change the extension of the file and then change it back after moving it.
You can also run Disk Tools on a Mac and choose First Aid > Run on storage devices and Mac hard disks. This fixes communication errors between devices and can remove error code 50 for you.
- Error code 8003
If you try to remove a file from the Mac’s trash, but the Mac cannot do so because of permission issues with what you are removing, error code 8003 is displayed.
There may be other reasons, but the error code is the same: hold down the option keyboard key while clicking the Empty Recycle bin button recycle Bin. This will force the garbage can empty and delete any locked files that you cannot unlock.
You can also start the Mac in safe mode or use the terminal to see which application is using the file you want to delete and close the program to avoid error 8003 and empty the trash completely.
- Error code 36
If the Finder cannot read or write to the file, you will see error code 36 on your Mac. As with error code 50, this usually happens when you try to copy or move files between devices. But error code 36 is made invisible. DS_Store file.
To correct error code 36, you need to delete these.ds_store files. You do this by opening the terminal application and entering the command dot_clean followed by a space.
Next, drag and drop the folder or memory card containing the error file into the terminal window and press Return on the keyboard. The.ds_store file should now be merged with the original file, and you should be able to move or copy the file without error.
- Error code 2003F
If your Mac is having problems installing the new macOS update, you will encounter error code 2003F. This happens most often when users try to reformat their Mac with macOS Restore but their Internet connection is poor or unstable.
One of the easiest ways to resolve this error is to connect to the Internet over Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi. Connecting to a new Wi-Fi or Ethernet network also works. It is also worth running the disk utility and selecting First Aid > Run, as in error code 50.
If error code 2003F still exists, restart the Mac and hold down Command + R when the Apple logo appears. The MacOS Tools window will open. Choose to reinstall macOS, enter your Apple ID information, and follow whatever instructions appear on the screen.
These fixes also work if you encounter error codes 2002F, 2100F, and 1008f.
I hope the above method can solve the problem you encountered.
