2019 was a major life transition for me. Graduation is no longer a student, learning will not stop.

Determined to follow the path of technology

In the first three quarters of 2019, I found a job after graduating from my master’s degree. As a student, MY life came to an end and I began to live as a social worker.

Non-computer major, undergraduate and postgraduate education related major. Luckily, I’ve been working on technology for years. This is especially true at CMU, where all specialties are essentially CS of varying purity. In such an atmosphere, I strengthened my determination to take the path of technology, determined my future employment direction, and made a general growth plan.

I made up my mind too late, didn’t manage my classes properly, and didn’t get into a big tech company. But there are opportunities, I hope I can from the software siege lion more and more into.

I live in Pittsburgh, a small city that was once in decline but is now reinventing itself on the back of a new technology industry. I work as a programmer in an education company. The salary is far worse than that of tech companies, but the cost of living is a little lower, plus the current pressure is not very big, leaving a lot of spare time for themselves, have more time, energy belongs to their own, continue to learn, do their own projects, some results. Many of the flags that had fallen before finally had time and opportunity to stand up.

Learning outcomes landing

Full-stack development and machine learning are the two areas that I’m most interested in, both in the course, in my work and in my personal projects.

In this year, every class is a final project, and finally there is a Capstone project, which is to design and develop a product for real customers to solve their problems. Many projects, large and small, have been completed in this way. However, due to the tight time, many projects have no time to iterate after completion, and there is no link to summarize and improve.

After finding a job, I finally have more time to myself and can digest the knowledge I have learned. The work content is very challenging, trying to solve the problem that has never been solved before, several colleagues are also constantly exploring and summarizing. I have some interesting ideas for my personal project, which are being gradually implemented and several articles have been produced.

Technology allows me to put my ideas on the ground, and it allows me to continue to produce results. See oneself this year of achievement unceasing increase, have full sense of achievement.

Through the platform, share with everyone

I kind of got my start with the Nuggets. I don’t remember how I discovered the nuggets platform, but I found good articles and tutorials on it, and have been learning from the big boys.

Now, I have also grown up, and I hope to share my experience, the pit I stepped on, and my learning experience on the platform. Is a record of their own, but also hope to help others.

In addition, I also participated in the Nuggets translation project, committed to the translation of foreign high-quality articles, let more technical people see.

New Year’s resolutions for 2020

In the last few months of 2019, I’ve learned a few more things:

I’m starting to feel like I’m running out of time.

After work, I found that I need to deal with a lot of trifles in life. Grocery shopping, cooking, and many other things are not just a hassle, but a realization that your time could be spent on more valuable things. Fortunately, there are take-out and online supermarkets, although expensive, but the money to buy time, but also worth it.

Start exploring side income.

After all, working for people is to use their own time for money, for not a lot of. Now that they are earning money and no longer dependent on their parents, they want to learn more about how to play and get ahead financially.

In the New Year, while continuously improving the technology, I also have a few small goals to achieve:

  1. Exercise regularly and stay healthy
  2. Output technical articles, at least more complete stack series
  3. Improve your personal projects
  4. Learn more about finances
  5. Explore different side businesses to generate income

2020, move on.
