Make sure that make, Docker, and Docker Compose have been installed on your computer before installing Reach. Reach needs to run with them on POSIX operating system.
The best way to install Docker for Mac and Windows is to install Docker Desktop, which will help you install Docker and Docker Compose together.
You may already have Make installed on your computer. For example, OS X and many other POSIX-type operating systems come with make, but some versions of Linux don’t include make by default, and you’ll need to install it yourself. For Ubuntu, run sudo apt install make.
If you can run the following three commands correctly, you have everything you need installed.
$ make –version
$ docker –version
$ docker-compose –version
If you are using Windows, please refer to the introduction below on this page or to the guide to Use Reach on Windows.
After the preceding modules are installed, select a directory for the project and run the command
$ mkdir -p ~/reach/tut && cd ~/reach/tut
Then run the following command to download and install Reach
** ∗** ∗ curl docs. Reach. sh/ reach-o reach; chmod +x reach
If you can run the following command, the download is successful
$ ./reach version
Since Reach is already containerized with Docker, you need to install the image it uses. The required image file is automatically downloaded when you use it for the first time. You can also run the following command manually
$ ./reach update
If you can run the following command, everything is ready
$ ./reach compile –help

Access to ide/text editor support is available in the editor.
Now that your Reach is installed, open the text editor and start writing your first Reach application!

- Download and install Docker Desktop, and start Docker Desktop WSL 2 backend.
- Use Docker and WSL2 for development by referring to the guidelines provided by Docker.
This way, your terminal in Linux has the VSCode integrated development environment set up. You can now download, install and execute the full Reach code by following the instructions in the Installation Reference manual or the first part of the guide.
You can watch a short 5-minute video on YouTube to complete the above steps.
