Suddenly, I feel like I’ve written about this topic before…

In recent days, my work involves PDF parsing and OCR recognition. In fact, they are all topics with a very long history. Say long, is relative to the speed of software development, both have been around for many years. And, because the need has always been assumed to be there, the solution is constantly changing.

  • Just a few years ago, both solutions were SDKS, offline libraries, and sold at a high price, usually to big companies.
  • Later, licenses also became subscription.
  • Until now, it’s a cloud-based service that charges for use.
  • Even the term cloud is going out of fashion, replaced by glowing words like “deep learning” and “AI”.

As these forms of demonstration, standing in front of the stage leading the main coquetwork, also in constant change. For example, I have been trapped by the idea that “Baidu knows Chinese better” and “Microsoft, a foreign company, must know English better”. But today I tried Tencent’S OCR, and found that the recognition of some pictures, Chinese is stronger than Baidu, English is stronger than Microsoft.

The world is really changing. You’ll make a fool of yourself if you look at the world from the same viewpoint.
